Patricia "Patsy" Mae Patterson Hamilton passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2017 in her home in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 76. Although she endured numerous medical conditions, she fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith to the end. Patsy is survived by her children Lynn Grantham (Brian) and Romona Rippie, sister Marty Barker (David), and grandchildren Courtney Martin (Danial) and Kaitlin Grantham. She is preceded in death by her husband Grady E Hamilton Jr, mother Trula Patterson, father James Patterson, and brother Jimmy Patterson
Patsy was born on May 31st 1941 in Shelbyville, Tennessee to James and Trula Patterson. She was married to Grady Hamilton Jr, September 2nd 1966. The couple had 2 children and Patsy set about teaching them to love God, family, and people. Her children remember her as a kind and gentle mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Patsy was involved in the lives of her grandkids and always encouraged them to succeed and try their best. Although she was not always able to attend their events, she was always just a phone call away to give her best advice and opinions. Patsy has been a strong woman of faith all of her life and was very grateful for the opportunity to go be with her Lord and Savior. She made sure that through everything she went through, her family was aware that she believed in the hope of a pain-free and worry-free life with Jesus after her time on Earth was to end.
Her survivors will always remember her faith in Jesus, her wonderful country ham and biscuit breakfast, and her compassion for those around her. She was a generous and dedicated individual who loved her kids and grandkids and who was passionate about making them happy. One of Patsy's favorite things was to hear her son-in-law sing and play the guitar. She loved his gift that God had blessed him with and requested to hear his talents often. She was a member of Lester's Chapel United Methodist Church where the members were all very fond of her even after she had to stop attending due to her illness.
Patsy's family will receive visitors from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at George A. Smith & Sons North with the Services to follow at 3:00. Burial will follow the services at Highland Memorial Gardens. Reverend Joe Thornton will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Patsy's life.
