Tony Andrew Greene, 54 of Jackson, Tennessee died on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, September 5, 1962 in Los Angeles, California , he was the son of the late Wade George Greene and the late Maxine Lumley Greene. Mr. Greene was a Distribution Service Representative for Pathgroup Labs. He was a member of the Love and Truth Church in Jackson where he served as a usher and as a media team member. Tony was an advanced certified weather spotter and Dyer County Storm Chaser. He will be remembered as the Newbern Santa and for his volunteer work with the Caruthersville Animal Shelter. He was a former member of the Newbern Jaycees and had served as Sergeant for the Dyer County Rescue Squad. Tony worked in radio for over thirty five years and was a former employee of Penguin.
Funeral services for Mr. Greene will be 3:00 PM on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Love and Truth Church located at 565 Oil Well Road in Jackson, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Pastor Ron Heidelberg. Interment will be at 5:00 PM on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home and on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Love and Truth Church.
He is survived by his wife of twenty three years, Faye Smith Greene of Jackson, Tennessee; one son, Eric Kyle Greene of Jackson, Tennessee; one daughter, Sarah Beth Greene of Jackson, Tennessee; four sisters, Kathleen Palmer (Steve) of Newbern, Tennessee, Jamie Wyrick of Newbern, Tennessee, Stephanie Hanneken (Jason) of Pacific, Missouri and Suzanne Lenz (Mark) of Pacific, Missouri; one brother, Durl Stephens of Phoenix, Arizona; his birth father and step-mother, Larry D. Stephens and Carol A. Stephens of Pacific, Missouri; grandmother, Juanita Bryant Stephens of Phoenix, Arizona; thirteen nieces and nephews; eight great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his birth mother, Brenda R. Tate.
Pallbearers will be Harrison Palmer, Brandon Hendrix, Ken Click, Michael White, Will Lovelady and Toby Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dakota Wyrick, J. D. Wilson, Remington Walley, Zachary Hendrix and Nichalus Hendrix.
